In our on-going support for Fifi Rong we are glad to feature her latest endeavour for 2020 the three part Love Is A Lonely Thing project.
Inspired by Wong Kar-Wai’s romantic film In The Mood For Love (2000) the three cuts of the track take us on eclectic musical journeys through genres and cultures-ostensibly of course Fifi Rong’s Chinese heritage and her surrogate cultural influences from the West.
Lyrically a tale of unrequited love forms the basis for Fifi Rong’s distinctive vocals and her telling skills at songwriting. While all versions have an addictive edge, here at itchysilk HQ we lean towards the third chapter /track. Ambient vibes with a deep sonorous bass takes you through the 4 minutes of this slow burner of a track.
This project is the precursor to her forth coming album slated for release late this year on her new label, W Records. Incidentally we listened to a track Fifi Rong dropped for the new label last Friday called Farewell To Cambridge we love this guitar driven cut-see what you think.
