The first release on the new Berlin based Jazz Cabbage label, is the Chrono Synclastic Infundibulum ep a quartet of cuts to massage the inner ear.
The lead cut used to promo the ep Mary Lou is the standout number. It’s up-tempo house with smidgens of nu-jazz as the distinctive sound of double bass riffs bubble beneath the surface. In truth with its good time vibes there’s an almost boss nova sound but we stress ‘almost’. The cut was premiered on the classy Ransom Notes so that’s a bona fide co-sign right there. The other three cuts; UWTB, Midnight Sun (which has a remix by a producer called Strip Steve Dub) complete this bouncy ep.
Jazz Cabbage are following the popular trend right now and releasing the cut on vinyl and we really like that here at #itchysilk. It’s unbelievable that a few years ago vinyl was on the verge of being phased out. Now vinyl is the way forward and this resurgence has in turn seen the resurgence of any dj’s friend the classy and timeless Technics brand. It would of course have been a major travesty if that most iconic of music brands had indeed disappeared and that classic silver look of 1210’s was lostv.
Anyway, back to the reason for this article. Now in case you are wondering where’s a bit of info on YGT well we have been searching but our investigative section has found little to nothing? Having said that even the label is something of an unknown. What we did find out in terms of information? Well the label has some great associations with acts like, Alphabets Heaven and a Tokyo based producer we like very much Himuro Yoshiteru-so we look forward to some classy releases from this rather forward-thinking label.
In the meantime, enjoy this brilliant release.
