I’m a big fan of Slovak singer/songwriter Barbora Patkova aka B’licious, the lead singer of the outstanding band, Heliocentrics.
Alongside the ‘OG’s’ Malcolm Catto and Jake Ferguson they’ve dropped genuine classic material.
While I could write copious superlatives about the band, in this juncture let’s discuss B’licious’ the solo artist.
She has released eps like Surrender (2022), but Serpent Dream (2026), will be her debut album, a momentous feat. The lead single kicking off that 10-track project is the gorgeous Apple.
Released on her own label Babzilla Records, Apple vibrates as an intoxicating, slow burn, neo-soul type jam.
Co-produced with Dan Smith of The Noisettes, and mixed by Si Medway (Bjork and Depeche Mode), Apple is a classy single and the perfect precursor to the album.

Apple vibrates as an intoxicating, slow burn, neo-soul type jam.
She conjures a relatable journey of ‘love’. You know what I mean; unrequited love, a crush that can never ‘be’, a burning love as the ‘apple of your eye’ remains oblivious.
Written from the outside looking in — watching someone long for a love that will never quite arrive — Apple turns that ache into something tender rather than bitter: a soulful meditation on innocent yearning and suspended hope. (B’licious)
On the flip side, SLICKnBOBBY provide an astute and on-point reggae dub remix, recorded ‘live’. A smooth reggae bass lulls you in, while B’licious transports us into a trance-it’s tidy.
After a 4-year hiatus, she shows her solo credentials with a fresh single.
